Basketball Game Preview: Word of God Christian Academy Holy Rams vs. Winston Salem Christian Lions

The Word of God Christian Academy Holy Rams are taking a road trip to take on the Winston Salem Christian Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Back in November, Word of God Christian Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Combine Academy Regional. They snuck past the Goats with a 58-54 victory. Given the Holy Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Goats are ranked 336th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Brandon Solomon, who went 13 of 23 en route to 27 points, to go along with three steals and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Josef Brown, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 13 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Winston Salem Christian had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 68-60.

Winston Salem Christian pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.5 points per game. As for Word of God Christian Academy, their record is now 6-3.

Word of God Christian Academy and Winston Salem Christian were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in February, but Word of God Christian Academy came up empty-handed after a 62-61 defeat. Can Word of God Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
