Baseball Game Preview: Goddard Rockets vs. Artesia Bulldogs

Goddard is 2-8 against Artesia since April of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Rockets will head out to square off against the Bulldogs at 12:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Goddard comes in on three and Artesia on 12.

Goddard is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Chaparral as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Airell Aguilar was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nathan Herrera, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Artesia faced Hope Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Bulldogs skirted past the Huskies 7-5.

Artesia pushed their record up to 23-6 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Goddard, the win got them back to even at 14-14.

Goddard couldn't quite finish off Artesia in their previous matchup two weeks ago and fell 2-0. Can the Rockets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
