Basketball Game Preview: Mendon Hornets vs. Climax-Scotts Panthers

The Mendon Hornets will take on the Climax-Scotts Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Climax-Scotts took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Mendon, who comes in off a win.

On Saturday, Mendon needed a bit of extra time to put away Hillsdale Academy. They walked away with a 51-44 win over the Colts. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Owen Gorham continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, as he made all 6 shots he took to post 15 points and eight rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times he's played. Talan Buchanan was another key player, going 5 for 6 en route to 10 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Climax-Scotts challenged Burr Oak on Thursday. Climax-Scotts fell 55-48 to Burr Oak. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now lost four in a row.

Climax-Scotts' defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Mendon, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Mendon was able to grind out a solid win over Climax-Scotts when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 43-33. Does Mendon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Climax-Scotts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
