After flying high against Bruceville-Eddy last Friday, Marlin came back down to earth. The Marlin Bulldogs were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 31-30 to the Riesel Indians. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Marlin's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 13-7. As for Riesel, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Axtell the next time they take the court. Marlin will host Axtell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Riesel will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st.
