Football Recap: Summit Christian Academy Starts Season with Loss at Home

Summit Christian Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 36-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Michael the Archangel Guardians on Friday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Guardians recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Gage Burgess was nothing short of spectacular for St. Michael the Archangel: he threw for 403 yards and four TDs while completing 75% of his passes. Those 403 passing yards gave Burgess a new career-high. St. Michael the Archangel's leading receiver Henry Miller was Burgess' top target yet again, picking up 119 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 30 yards.

Summit Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 41-9 defeat against Father Tolton on the 5th. As for St. Michael the Archangel, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 42-28 loss against Mountain Grove on the 5th.
