Lebanon has gone 9-1 against Corvallis recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Lebanon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Lebanon took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past South Salem 16-8. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their one-run performance the match before.
Annastazia Marshall made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Tatum Cole was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddison MacKie, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Lebanon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Salem only posted a batting average of .231.
Meanwhile, Corvallis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 9-3 to Dallas.
Corvallis saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sofia Markum, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Lebanon's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Corvallis, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lebanon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Corvallis struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lebanon took their victory against Corvallis in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 16-5 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
