Softball Recap: Ayersville's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Ayersville had lost four games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 7-4 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Edgerton Bulldogs as they made off with a 7-1 win. Considering the Pilots have won four games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kendra Waldron was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aeriel Brown, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

As for Edgerton, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Edgerton's side, Corinne Cape spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Edgerton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Giesige, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ayersville will square off against Bowling Green at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Edgerton, they will face off against Liberty Center at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
