Softball Game Preview: Abington Galloping Ghosts vs. Quakertown Panthers

Abington is 0-8 against Quakertown since April of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Galloping Ghosts will head out on the road to square off against the Panthers at 3:45 p.m. Abington has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Abington is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They lost 13-0 to Plymouth Whitemarsh. The game marked the first time this year in which the Galloping Ghosts were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Quakertown had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 9-6.

Ava Zebert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Leah Schwalm was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Ava Eatherton also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Quakertown hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wissahickon struck out eight times.

The win got Quakertown back to even at 3-3. As for Abington, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Abington came up short against Quakertown in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 6-1. Can the Galloping Ghosts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
