Football Game Preview: Stephenson Jaguars vs. Cedar Grove Saints

The Stephenson Jaguars will square off against the Cedar Grove Saints at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Stephenson is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 42-41 to North Clayton. The loss was the Jaguars' first of the season.

Despite their defeat, Stephenson saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jayden Johnson, who rushed for 147 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries, was perhaps the best of all. Johnson is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 112 every time he's taken the field this season. Zabrian Boler was another key passer, throwing for 278 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes.

Meanwhile, Cedar Grove lost to Mt. Zion at home by a 40-21 margin on Thursday. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cedar Grove's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Stephenson, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Everything went Stephenson's way against Cedar Grove in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Stephenson made off with a 40-20 win. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
