Baseball Recap: Daleville Triumphs

Daleville came out on top against Cowan on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run first inning. The Broncos walked away with a 10-6 win over the Blackhawks. The high-scoring effort was just what the Broncos needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Ayden Ramirez was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Daleville is 5-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-8 otherwise. Ramirez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleb Aikin, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Daleville's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 8-3 (and 2-7 when he doesn't). Carson Tighe was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Daleville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory got Daleville back to even at 10-10. As for Cowan, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
