Baseball Recap: Bethlehem Center Comes Up Short

Bethlehem Center extended their losing streak to ten on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-18. They came up short against the Carmichaels Mighty Mikes, falling 9-0. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 4-1 to the Mighty Mikes when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Bethlehem Center saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Bebout, who went 1-for-4 with one double.

As for Carmichaels, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games.

On Carmichaels' side, Connor Lapana and Dominic Yazzani made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Lapana pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Yazzani tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Lapana also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Carmichaels is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-8 otherwise. At bat, Lapana got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Yazzani went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two runs gave Yazzani a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ryder Krieg was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Tyler Whipkey also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Bethlehem Center wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-1 loss against Albert Gallatin on the 8th. As for Carmichaels, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-4 win against Sewickley Academy on the 11th.
