3A District 4 recap Oct. 30, 2012
First Academy extended the longest winning streak in 3A District 4 this week by beating Berkeley Prep, 56-0. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Holy Trinity Episcopal took down Bishop McLaughlin Catholic 61-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Daniel Welch threw for 142 yards and one touchdown and ran for 11 yards in the win.
Willie Gibson was the best wideout in the league this week as the Tigers beat the Hurricanes. Gibson racked up two receptions for 90 yards. Paul Sapourn helped Holy Trinity Episcopal's passing attack out by catching one ball for 26 yards.
Ben Deluzio was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 11 carries, he ran for 137 yards as First Academy topped Bishop McLaughlin Catholic. Teammate Colton Plante added to the ground attack by rushing for 95 yards.
Melbourne Central Catholic's Brandon Ziarno and Kyle Taylor have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 3A District 4 in both passing and receiving yards. Ziarno has thrown for 1453 yards this season, while Taylor, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 24 catches for 347 yards. Leroy Kinard's team's Lloyd Hylton leads the league in rushing yards with 921.
The Royals' Hylton is a mere 79 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when First Academy takes on the Rams. The Royals have allowed 48 points this season, while Orangewood Christian has given up 92. First Academy allowed 0 points last week as it defeated the Buccaneers.
Mark Ainsley's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 61 points on Derrick Alexander's team. Welch in the win.
