Baseball Recap: Bluffton Takes a Loss

Bluffton couldn't beat West Noble on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Tigers fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by just one run.

Colton Arnold put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Arnold wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Griffin Morgan, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Bluffton and nudges their season record down to 15-9. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for West Noble, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-15.

Bluffton and West Noble are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Tigers will square off against Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for West Noble, they will head out on the road to face off against Tippecanoe Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.78 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
