Softball Recap: Southern Columbia Area Tigers vs. Danville Ironmen
Southern Columbia Area had lost six straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-12 to make it seven. They came up short against the Danville Ironmen, falling 7-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 10-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.
As for Danville, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by seven runs or more this season.
For Danville's part, not much got past Maclin Hickey, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Southern Columbia Area off the board. Hickey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Breece Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brianna Blue, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Coming up, Southern Columbia Area is taking a road trip to face off against Bloomsburg at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Danville, they will face off against Warrior Run at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Defenders will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Ironmen surely won't give up without a fight.
