Baseball Game Preview: Henley Hornets vs. Hidden Valley Mustangs

For the second straight game, Henley will face off against Hidden Valley. The Hornets will venture away from home to face off against the Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Henley will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.

On Wednesday, Henley was able to grind out a solid victory over Hidden Valley, taking the game 7-2.

Mark Carpenter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Conner Shively, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played.

Henley pushed their record up to 14-2-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hidden Valley, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-5.
