Basketball Recap: Hatch Valley Bears vs. Santa Teresa Desert Warriors

Hatch Valley extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-3. They took a hard 61-45 fall against the Santa Teresa Desert Warriors. The Bears lost against the Desert Warriors in their previous head to head back in December of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 67-27 score last time.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alex Dominguez, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards. Dominguez is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Estevan Gonzales, who posted seven points and nine rebounds.

Santa Teresa had a senior duo take command as Gavin Garcia earned ten points and three steals and Diego Chavez put up four points in addition to ten boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Vierra, who scored seven points and six rebounds.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hatch Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Chaparral at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Santa Teresa, they will host Mesilla Valley Christian School at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
