Softball Game Preview: West Hills Wolf Pack vs. Imperial Tigers

The West Hills Wolf Pack will venture away from home to take on the Imperial Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (West Hills 3.6, Imperial 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

West Hills' usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Eastlake hitters got past them. The Wolf Pack came up short against the Titans on Tuesday, falling 10-3.

Kristina Deal made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Katy Spargo, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Imperial). They were the clear victors by an 18-4 margin over Palo Verde Valley on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won three matches in a row.

Raegan Ray was a standout: she scored three runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Aryelle Lopez also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Imperial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Imperial pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for West Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5-1.

West Hills might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Imperial when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can the Wolf Pack avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
