Softball Recap: Douglas Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Douglas ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Flowing Wells Caballeros 9-8. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Caballeros: they've now won seven in a row.

The team relied heavily on Dominique Munoz, who went 4-for-5 with two doubles, one triple, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Gonzalez, who got on base in four of her eight plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Douglas' win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Flowing Wells, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

As for Flowing Wells, they will venture away from home to challenge Nogales at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Flowing Wells is facing Nogales at the right time seeing as Nogales is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
