Basketball Recap: Igniz Segovia-Gonzalez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cheyenne over Valley

Cheyenne lost against Valley back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Cheyenne Desert Shields fell to the Valley Vikings 58-54.

Cheyenne's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Igniz Segovia-Gonzalez, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Segovia-Gonzalez is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games he's played. Jonathan Castile was another key player, going 7 of 8 on his way to 16 points.

Even though they lost, Cheyenne was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Cheyenne has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Valley, they moved to 3-8 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Cheyenne will look to defend their home court on January 6, 2025 against Somerset Sky Pointe at 6:30 p.m. As for Valley, they will head out to challenge Sunrise Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Sunrise Mountain has lost three straight at home , while Valley has lost four on the road (dating back to last season).
