Basketball Recap: Brush Beetdiggers vs. Loveland Classical Lions

The Brush Beetdiggers had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Loveland Classical with a 52-46 win on Thursday.

Michelle Headley had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 27 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. Brisa Aguirre-Garcia was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Loveland Classical saw an underclassman step up: Lara Riedel almost dropped a double-double on 14 rebounds and nine steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Saxton, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Brush's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-12. As for Loveland Classical, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4.

Brush won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Loveland Classical, they will head out on the road to take on the Kodiaks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Colorado Springs School comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
