Basketball Game Preview: Gahr Gladiators vs. Marquez Gladiators

The Gahr Gladiators will take on the Marquez Gladiators at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Gahr knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Marquez likes a good challenge.

Gahr is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against La Mirada on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Gahr lost 80-57 to La Mirada. While losing is never fun, the Gladiators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 470th, while the Matadores are ranked 14th).

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Marquez's strategy against Maywood Academy on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Marquez blew Maywood Academy out of the water with an 86-49 final score. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gladiators.

Marquez is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points per game. As for Gahr, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.
