Softball Game Preview: Bloomington North Cougars vs. North Daviess Cougars

Bloomington North will face off against North Daviess at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with 11 losses in a row, Bloomington North turned things around against Owen Valley on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Patriots 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since April 10th.

Kendyl Feutz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaydence Silvers, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Grayson Gill, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, North Daviess waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

North Daviess pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bloomington North, their victory bumped their record up to 5-13.

Bloomington North couldn't quite get it done against North Daviess in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can Bloomington North avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
