Basketball Recap: Raven Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cathedral Academy over St. Johns Country Day

Cathedral Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 37-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Johns Country Day Spartans.

Cathedral Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raven Williams, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Jackson, who had eight points.

Kendall Proffitt was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten steals for St. Johns Country Day. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Proffitt has scored at least a third of St. Johns Country Day's points. Ashantii Williams was another key player, putting up five points along with 11 rebounds and four steals.

Cathedral Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for St. Johns Country Day, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Cathedral Academy will host Lugoff-Elgin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Johns Country Day and Lake Marion will round out the year against one another at at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Lake Marion is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.
