Softball Recap: Amherst Central Comes Up Short

Amherst Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hamburg Bulldogs. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Sam Jacobia made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Agostino, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Amherst Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Hamburg, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Looking ahead, Amherst Central is taking a road trip to face off against Sweet Home at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. Hamburg has already played their next game (against Starpoint), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
