Softball Recap: Yuba City Has No Trouble Against Del Campo

Yuba City barely beat Del Campo the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Honkers were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over the Cougars on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 back in April.

Maddison Stead was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Stead was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Tori Hernandez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexia Alvarez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Yuba City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Del Campo only managed seven hits.

Yuba City's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-7-1. As for Del Campo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yuba City will face off against Nevada Union at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Honkers are facing the Miners at the right time seeing as the Miners are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Del Campo, they will square off against Twelve Bridges at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The last four games the Raging Rhinos have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
