Basketball Recap: Oakwood Christian Takes a Loss

Oakwood Christian played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 79-50 loss at the hands of the Excel Christian Academy Eagles. Oakwood Christian hasn't had much luck with Excel Christian Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Excel Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaiyu Huffman led the charge by going 6 for 8 on his way to 16 points and three steals. The contest was Huffman's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Jinks, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 17 points.

Oakwood Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Excel Christian Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-4.

Oakwood Christian will welcome Varsity Opponent at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Excel Christian Academy, they will head out to take on Coahulla Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
