Softball Recap: Rickover Naval Comes Up Short

Rickover Naval couldn't beat Juarez on Friday even though they stacked six runs on them in the first inning. The Seadragons lost 21-11 to the Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Seadragons of the 18-10 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2025.

Sofia Fuentes was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kayla Mateo, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Rickover Naval and nudges their season record down to 3-3-1. As for Juarez, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Coming up, Rickover Naval will head out to challenge Chicago Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Juarez, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mather at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Rangers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
