Recap: Aiken Fighting Green Hornets vs. North Augusta Yellow Jackets
The Aiken Fighting Green Hornets fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the North Augusta Yellow Jackets on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Yellow Jackets 68-63. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Aiken in their matchups with North Augusta: they've now lost seven in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Aiken lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tre'von Walker. Despite the final result, he scored 33 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walker has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jadan Young, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Aiken's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-11. As for North Augusta, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aiken will take on Greenwood at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (Greenwood is ranked 57th, while Aiken is ranked 74th). As for North Augusta, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Berea at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. One thing working in North Augusta's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten matches.
