Baseball Game Preview: Leetonia Bears vs. Jefferson County Christian Royals

The Leetonia Bears will head out to face off against the Jefferson County Christian Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jefferson County Christian took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Leetonia, who comes in off a win.

Leetonia gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 12-8 victory over Southern. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bears needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Jefferson County Christian and Beallsville, and Beallsville kept the tradition alive. The Royals fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 5-4 on Monday. The Royals haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Jefferson County Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was EJ Keener, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Leetonia is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Jefferson County Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Leetonia suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to Jefferson County Christian in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
