Softball Recap: Wednesday's Loss Ends Bath County's Winning Streak

Bath County dropped their record down to 19-7 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They lost 8-2 to the Boyd County Lions. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 7-6 to the Lions when the teams met back in May of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Boyd County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 23-14. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.

For Boyd County's part, Brooke Jacobs tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, Jacobs posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March.

At the plate, Elyn Simpkins was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Jaycie Goad was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Coming up, Bath County is taking a road trip to challenge West Jessamine at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats are facing the Colts at the right time seeing as the Colts are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Boyd County, they will be playing at home against Wheelersburg at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their 22nd straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
