Basketball Recap: St. Francis Comes Up Short

If St. Francis was feeling good fresh off their 88-62 takedown of Kenosha Christian Life last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The St. Francis Mariners took an 84-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brookfield Academy Blue Knights on Thursday. The Mariners haven't had much luck with the Blue Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Despite the loss, St. Francis still got an impressive performance from Cameron Nerby, who dropped a double-double with 29 points and ten boards. St. Francis is 3-1 when Nerby posts ten or more rebounds, but 7-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Josh Green, who went 6-for-15 en route to 17 points and four steals.

St. Francis' defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Brookfield Academy, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-7.

Coming up, St. Francis will head out to challenge Kingdom Prep Lutheran at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Brookfield Academy, they will welcome Catholic Central at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
