Softball Recap: Patterson's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Patterson waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 9-6 win over the St. James Wildcats. While the Lumberjacks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Mia Knight spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Patterson let Jaselynn Haven and Jada Finister run wild. Haven scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Finister scored a run while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Haven has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Laiken Chautin, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Patterson's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-5. As for St. James, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Looking ahead, Patterson will head out on the road to challenge Berwick at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Berwick's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four games. As for St. James, a feisty cat fight will be fought as St. James Wildcats challenge Covenant Christian Academy Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
