Soccer Game Preview: Waxahachie vs. Midway

The Waxahachie Indians will head out to face off against the Midway Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Waxahachie is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Mesquite just ended the team's three-game winning streak last Friday. Neither they nor the Skeeters could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time the Indians have been dealt a draw since back in January.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Midway duked it out with A&M Consolidated on Monday. Midway came up short against A&M Consolidated, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 196th, while the Tigers are ranked 13th).

Midway's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 45 goals over those eight games. Waxahachie's draw makes their record 14-7-3 this season.

Everything went Waxahachie's way against Midway when the teams last played back in February of 2022, as Waxahachie made off with a 3-0 win. Will Waxahachie repeat their success, or does Midway have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
