Preview: McLean Tigers vs. Fort Elliott Cougars

McLean is 9-1 against Fort Elliott since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The McLean Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Fort Elliott Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Fort Elliott took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on McLean, who comes in off a win.

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but McLean ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Kelton and snuck past 30-28. The victory was just what McLean needed coming off of a 69-23 defeat in their prior matchup.

Jayvon Salazar and Caleb Steward were among the main playmakers for McLean as the former scored four points along with 12 rebounds and three steals and the latter scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Salazar is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last ten games he's played.

Meanwhile, Fort Elliott's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Friday after their third straight loss. Their tough 73-51 loss to Follett might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Fort Elliott in their matchups with Follett: they've now lost six in a row.

McLean's win bumped their record up to 6-15. As for Fort Elliott, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

McLean strolled past Fort Elliott in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 65-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for McLean since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
