Basketball Recap: East Gaston Victorious

The third road matchup was the charm for East Gaston, as they earned their first away victory of the season. Everything went their way against the Chase Trojans on Friday as they made off with a 45-24 win. The score was close at halftime, but the Warriors pulled away in the second half with 27 points.

East Gaston can attribute much of their success to Kayla Maiers, who posted 17 points. Kendyl Rivera was another key player, putting up eight points.

Despite the loss, Chase saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kalyn Allen shot 56% from the field en route to 12 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Palyn Allen, who earned two points and four steals.

East Gaston's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Chase, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, East Gaston will head out to take on North Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chase, they will take on Thornwell in a tournament on Monday.
