The Andalusia Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Flomaton Hurricanes at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Andalusia is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
Last Friday, Andalusia was able to grind out a solid victory over Charles Henderson, taking the game 5-1.
Meanwhile, Flomaton hadn't done well against Excel recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hurricanes were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Panthers. Considering the Hurricanes have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Riley Harrison made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base.
In other batting news, Kamden Martin was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Chaz Odom, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Flomaton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Andalusia, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8-1.
Flomaton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Andalusia hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. It's a different story for Flomaton, though, as they've only averaged .249. Will they be able to contain Andalusia's hitters?
Everything went Andalusia's way against Flomaton in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, as Andalusia made off with a 7-1 win. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hurricanes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
