Soccer Game Preview: Vernon Hills vs. Lake Zurich

The Vernon Hills Cougars will challenge the Lake Zurich Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Vernon Hills is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Thursday, they were much more limited against Mundelein on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. Vernon Hills haven't had much luck with Mundelein recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Lake Zurich strolled into their game on Saturday with an undefeated record and they left with the same. They never let Lakes get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Lake Zurich were the better team in the second half.

Emily Bowen and Reilly Novak scored both of Lake Zurich's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Lake Zurich's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four matches. As for Vernon Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5-1.
