Baseball Recap: North Canyon Wins Going Away Against Shadow Mountain

North Canyon barely beat Shadow Mountain the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rattlers blew past the Matadors 21-8 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Rattlers considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Mason Hougland looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brandon Alexander was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for North Canyon: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-14 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Alvarez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

North Canyon's record is now 10-14. As for Shadow Mountain, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-15-1.

Coming up, North Canyon will head out to challenge Verrado at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Shadow Mountain, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against St. Mary's at 3:45 p.m.
