Baseball Recap: Summers County Comes Up Short

Summers County came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Westside Renegades, falling 18-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Renegades this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-2 back in March.

Summers County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Robey Brown, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Summers County has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-19 record this season. As for Westside, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Summers County will head out to challenge Liberty at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westside, they will venture away from home to take on River View at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Renegades' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
