Softball Recap: Chicopee Comp Comes Up Short

Chicopee Comp had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-8 to make it eight. They came up short against the Ludlow Lions, falling 14-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Colts of the 13-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Arianna Bird was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ari Chagnon, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Ludlow, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games.

On Ludlow's side, the team relied heavily on Caitlyn Peczka, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Ava Peczka was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Chicopee Comp will square off against Easthampton/Hampshire at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ludlow, they will host West Springfield at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
