Basketball Game Preview: Samueli Academy Firewolves vs. Savanna Rebels + How To Watch

The Samueli Academy Firewolves are taking a road trip to square off against the Savanna Rebels at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Samueli Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Wednesday, Samueli Academy escaped with a win against Bolsa Grande by the margin of a single free throw, 49-48.

Among those leading the charge was Gabe Gonzalez, who posted 20 points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Damian Zendejas, who earned 11 points.

Meanwhile, Savanna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 55-44 to Irvine. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1024th, while the Vaqueros are ranked 372nd).

Samueli Academy's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8. As for Savanna, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Samueli Academy suffered a grim 72-52 defeat to Savanna in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Thankfully for the Firewolves, Branden Ellis (who went 9-for-19 on his way to 23 points and six steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
