Softball Recap: Helena Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

After only one run in their last match, Helena made sure to put some runs up on the board against Capital on Tuesday. The Bengals blew past the Bruins 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Bengals, who have now won three games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Faith Howard spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Kamryn Klemp and Dakota Lieberg did most of the damage at the plate: Klemp went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one double, while Lieberg went 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Those four runs gave Lieberg a new career-high. Keira Campbell was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Helena pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Capital, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Helena has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Belgrade on the 19th. As for Capital, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-1 defeat against Russell on the 19th.
