Preview: Cedar Park Timberwolves vs. Georgetown Eagles
Cedar Park is 8-1 against Georgetown since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Cedar Park Timberwolves will be playing at home against the Georgetown Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Cedar Park had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Leander 49-7 on the road. Considering Cedar Park has won three games by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Trae Hill and Ayden Arp were among the main playmakers for Cedar Park as the former rushed for 218 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry and the latter threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Suber, who picked up 60 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Georgetown was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Glenn and snuck past 44-41. The victory was just what Georgetown needed coming off of a 63-21 defeat in their prior game.
Andrew Petter was on fire: he rushed for 241 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Noah Booras, who threw for 362 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt.
Cedar Park's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Leander, Hendrickson, and East View. As for Georgetown, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Cedar Park has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 155.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Georgetown struggles in that department as they've been even better at 156 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Cedar Park might still be hurting after the 40-14 loss they got from Georgetown in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Will Cedar Park have more luck at home instead of on the road?
