Volleyball Recap: Fairmont Golden Tornadoes vs. Pender Patriots
Fairmont kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Pender Patriots, falling 3-0. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.
The match was exciting from start to finish, as two sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 32-30, 29-27.
Jensen Bordeaux was nothing short of spectacular for Pender: she had 38 digs, six kills, and three aces. Those 38 digs gave Bordeaux a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eden Gurganous, who had 27 digs and two aces.
Looking ahead, Fairmont will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Purnell Swett at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pender, they are taking a road trip to face off against Wallace-Rose Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
