Volleyball Recap: South Granville Starts Season with Win Against Oxford Prep

South Granville had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Oxford Prep Griffins by a score of 3-1. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 3-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-16, 20-25, 25-23.

South Granville was led to victory by Larah Preddy and Tatum Currin. Preddy had 12 digs and four aces, while Currin had seven digs and three aces. Those 12 digs gave Preddy a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: South Granville was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 21 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in 26 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Granville will welcome Louisburg at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Oxford Prep, they will face off against Woods Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
