Softball Game Preview: Riverside-Brookfield Bulldogs vs. Lyons Lions

The Riverside-Brookfield Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Lyons Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Riverside-Brookfield's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four games.

If Riverside-Brookfield beats Lyons with 19 runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Everything went the Bulldogs' way against Larkin on Thursday as they made off with a 19-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won ten contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Lyons couldn't beat York on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Lions came up short against the Dukes, falling 13-6.

Ava Jacklin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla Replin, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Riverside-Brookfield pushed their record up to 12-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Lyons, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Riverside-Brookfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Lyons in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
