Basketball Recap: Navajo Prep Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Victory

Navajo Prep waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Everything went their way against the Crownpoint Eagles as they made off with a 55-35 win. Navajo Prep has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Courtney Craig, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Craig is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Miley McMillan, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Navajo Prep pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Crownpoint, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

Navajo Prep will face off against Newcomb at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Navajo Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Newcomb likes a good challenge. As for Crownpoint, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Crownpoint Eagles take on the Thoreau Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
