Softball Recap: El Dorado's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

El Dorado never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Garden Grove on Saturday. They blew past the Argonauts 12-0. The result was nothing new for the Golden Hawks, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Emma Esquivel's shutout, as she gave up just four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jessica Cherms was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Miessner, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Cherms wasn't the only one working in the hit department: El Dorado kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. El Dorado is 8-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

El Dorado's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-7. As for Garden Grove, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Dorado will take on Sonora at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (El Dorado 2.7, Sonora 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Garden Grove, they will square off against Mayfair at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
