Basketball Recap: Alhambra Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the Alhambra Lions had to suffer through a 68-18 loss at the hands of the McClintock Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while the Chargers are ranked 45th).

Zawadi Mwamini was Alhambra's leading scorer, having posted four points.

It was another big night for Lamaiya Woodberry, who went 7 of 10 on her way to 18 points along with six assists and five boards for McClintock. Woodberry's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Iakira Mike, who posted six points and six rebounds.

Alhambra's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for McClintock, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Alhambra will head out to square off against Fairfax at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for McClintock, they will welcome Carl Hayden Community at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. McClintock is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.2 points per game this season.
