Basketball Game Preview: St. Joseph Academy Crusaders vs. La Jolla Country Day Torreys

The St. Joseph Academy Crusaders are taking a road trip to square off against the La Jolla Country Day Torreys at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Joseph Academy has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 175 points over their last three matches.

Last Wednesday, St. Joseph Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against San Pasqual, but they still walked away with a 59-53 victory.

St. Joseph Academy relied on the efforts of Brewster Gale, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 19 points, and Justice Ahiafor, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The contest was Ahiafor's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Dominic Gale was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Meanwhile, La Jolla Country Day had just enough and edged El Camino out 58-55 on Wednesday. Given the Torreys' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Wildcats are ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win got La Jolla Country Day back to even at 9-9. As for St. Joseph Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season.
